1. What is the most important concept you learned this semester? Explain the concept briefly and discuss why it is important.
During this semester, i believe the most important thing i learned was how to research better. Now i know of a variety of search engines i can go to rather than just google and wikipedia. Some examples; http://www.bing.com/ http://www.lexisnexis.com/ http://www.diigo.com/user/lburge32010 http://taggalaxy.com/
2. From all the new knowledge you gained in this class, choose 2 facts or ideas that make the biggest impression on you. Explain.
One thing i learned that really helped me to open my eyes to is what our world has come to today and where we are heading. Devices that you can make calls from, send text messages, listen to music, serf the web, take and watch videos and pictures, navigate, and more. Also, web 2.0 itself. The way we are going with all this advanced technology, i wonder how our world will be in 2020.
Another fact, that i believe is very important, is that this web has no privacy. Anyone can go through all your things without you knowing. And anything on Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, etc. that you publish is thiers as soon as you hit that upload button. So be caerful, watch what you post. 3. What 3 skills will you take from this class, and how will you use them in the future?
First, and most important i believe, i learned a few techniques on how to search research engines better, which key words and symbols to add or subtract while looking for my topic, to narrow the results to what i am searching for. These skills can definately follow me into college and be very useful.
Also, now for future assignments i will be able to present/publish, whatever the assignment, in a variety of ways, rather than just in power point all the time. (http://21globalleadership.wikispaces.com/Publishing+Possibilities)
Another skill i picked up on during this semester was
4. Look at the 4 global competencies (objectives) for the course. Which objective do you feel you developed to the greatest degree?
What did you learn about that objective, how did you learn it, and why does it matter in the world?
Between the four objectives, i feel i enjoyed "the begining of the semester most when we were "investigating the world:Discover and Explore Global Knowledge". I learned a lot of helpful tips and facts during this time of the semester. I learned about our world,
5. What does it mean to be a global leader in the 21st century?
To be a global leader, in our century, one must be aware of what our century has come to and where we stand today. They must be a good leader with ideas that can better our world, inspire, and motivate.
